DanK Web Studio is Daniel Kinney.

Nearly twenty years building websites and software, and a bachelor's degree in game software development before that. The name is just the two halves of mine: Dan, and K for Kinney.

What the studio is for

Most small businesses get one of two things. Either a cheap template site that looks like every other site in the trade and cannot be changed without starting over, or an expensive one from an agency where the person who sells it is not the person who builds it and nobody is around six months later.

This is the third option. You deal with the person doing the work. Nothing is handed to an account manager and nothing is quietly subcontracted.

How the work is done

Every site is built on Drupal, kept in version control, and deployed by a documented process with a way back. You own the domain, the server, the data and the code. There is no platform you cannot leave.

Sites are not finished at launch. They rot: platforms release security updates, links go stale, certificates expire, and backups quietly stop running. The care plans exist because that ongoing work is the actual job, not an upsell.

Who it is for

Local service businesses, mostly trades. Electricians, cleaners, builders. People whose customers find them by searching, and who would rather talk to someone who explains things plainly than someone who talks about engagement.
